Learning to swim is something every person should know as you are bound to be near water at some point in your life whether it is fishing, lounging by a pool with friends, or on a boat. Drowning is the number one cause of unintentional death among children ages one to four. Therefore, all children and adults need to learn this life-saving skill! Youth Aquatic Lessons

- Parent accompanies student in water

Session 1 Session 2
- No prerequisites required
- Taught in shallow water
- Buchanan Recreation Center Pool
Register Online for Beginner Preschool - All Available
- Must have passed Beginner Preschool
- Student must perform skills with little instructor assistance
- Must have ability to swim 5 yards with face in the water (assisted or unassisted)
- Buchanan Recreation Center Pool
Register Online for Intermediate Preschool - All Available
- No prerequisite skills required
- Taught in varying depths of water
- BPRC and WRC pools
Register Online for Level 1/2 - All Available
- Student must perform skills in deep water without instructor assistance
- Must be able to swim 10 -15 yards without touching the floor or walls
- Class concentrates on stroke development and stamina improvement
- BPRC and WRC pools
Click Here for Level 2/3 (5 plus years) - All Available
- Must have passed Level 3
- Student must swim strokes for 25 yards without stopping
- Students work on stroke refinement, coordination, and endurance
- BPRC and WRC pool
Register Online for Level 4/5 - All Available
- For ages 6 and up
- Must have passed Level 4/5 or swim for local swim club
- Class concentrates on improving the four competitive strokes, starts, and turns
- WRC pool
