Press release 5/5/2025
EPRD will be performing fence installation the week of May 5th for several hundred feet on the north side of the Lake at Dedisse Park. The fence is being installed to improve and repair a section of this trail and reduce human-wildlife conflicts. This pathway with a fence will improve the trail and restore shoreline.
The trail and park at Dedisse Park see over 250,000 visits each year. EPRD is installing this fence in an effort to reduce the number of closures during certain seasons and improve trail conditions. All throughout Dedisse Park, there is split rail fence to help delineate areas for use and closed areas. This fence will create a buffer between wildlife and recreational users to reduce the potential for negative interactions in this highly used trail section. You will also see new gates along this section of the north side of the Lake. These gates will allow staff and volunteers to temporarily close this section of the trail to create a buffer space between wildlife and park users during certain times of the year.
This is a multiple-phase project to improve the trail and wildlife habitat. Next phases will include reseeding of these restoration areas, installation of access gates, drainage improvements, reduction of sediment into the creek, bank stabilization, and signage.
You will see volunteers throughout the summer around the Lake, educating and informing users about the wildlife in our community. Wild Aware has volunteers at the Lake to help encourage, support, & enhance the safe and rewarding co-existence of humans and wildlife. As a reminder, please respect wildlife and trail closures.
As always, please reach out with questions or feedback to Info@eprdco.gov or 720.880.1300.
